Laurel Shooting Today – Police Investigate Reported Gunfire as Search for Suspect Continues

A police investigation is underway following reports of gunfire connected to separate incidents in Laurel that have drawn significant law enforcement attention and concern from residents.

One of the latest incidents under investigation occurred in Laurel, where Delaware State Police said a 19-year-old man arrived at TidalHealth Nanticoke Hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after reportedly being shot near Portsville Road and Randall Street. Investigators said the suspected shooter fled before officers arrived.

During the investigation, troopers reportedly encountered 20-year-old Alexison Amisial at a gas station in Laurel and allegedly recovered an untraceable firearm from his waistband. Authorities said he was arrested on weapons-related charges while detectives continued searching for the suspected shooter connected to the original gunfire incident.

Meanwhile, another widely reported Laurel shooting investigation remains active in Laurel after multiple people were injured during chaotic violence near a shopping center along Baltimore Avenue during Cinco de Mayo celebrations earlier this month. Police said three people were shot near the LongHorn Steakhouse while two others were stabbed in a separate nearby altercation.

Investigators in the Maryland case released surveillance images of a person they are attempting to identify as part of the shooting investigation. Witness videos circulating online captured large crowds and panic moments before gunfire erupted near the shopping center.

Residents in both Laurel communities have expressed growing concern regarding violent incidents involving firearms as detectives continue working to identify suspects, determine motives, and gather witness statements connected to the shootings.

Law enforcement agencies are urging anyone with surveillance footage, cellphone video, or additional information related to either case to contact investigators as both investigations remain ongoing.
