PG County Shooting Today – Police Investigate Reported Gunfire Across Prince George’s County
Gun violence investigations remain active across parts of Prince George’s County as detectives continue responding to multiple reported shooting incidents that have raised concerns among residents throughout the Maryland community.
One of the most recent investigations involved a traffic stop in Chillum that escalated into a deadly officer-involved shooting. According to Prince George’s County police, officers attempted to search a vehicle during a traffic stop near 23rd Avenue and Ager Road when the driver allegedly reentered the car and drove off while an officer was still inside. Police said the officer discharged a weapon during the incident, and the driver later died from injuries sustained in the shooting. Two officers were also injured during the encounter.
Separately, Maryland State Police continue investigating a string of roadway shootings that occurred earlier this year across Prince George’s County highways, including incidents near Route 5 and the I-495 corridor. Authorities later arrested a suspect identified as Kendrick Lamont Savoy, who now faces multiple attempted murder and firearms-related charges connected to the shootings.
Prince George’s County has also experienced several other high-profile shootings in recent months, including a triple homicide outside a banquet hall on Saint Barnabas Road in Temple Hills and additional fatal shootings in Upper Marlboro and surrounding communities.
Investigators across the county continue urging residents to provide surveillance footage, witness statements, and additional information that could assist detectives working active shooting and homicide cases.
Community leaders and residents have expressed growing concern regarding repeated violent incidents involving firearms throughout the county despite previous declines in homicide rates reported during 2025.
